JAMES SAMANYA
Sub-title here
James is one of the top students in P7.
He is 15 years old.
His best subjects are Math and English -
and he dreams of being a doctor.
Like most of the boys, he loves soccer -
and is really pretty impressive!
But James also loves to read -
whatever he can get his hands on.
His mother is dead. His father is very, very poor.
James worries about whether he will have a sponsor by January so he will be able to go to secondary school.
No one should have to worry about that.

LAURA NAHABWE
Sub-title here
Laura looks serious, because she IS serious.
The Headmaster used a rare word to describe her - "ambitious."
He also gave her the ultimate compliment, saying
"she is the kind of student who inspires teachers".
She is 8 years old and in P4.
Her father cannot find work. Her mother has a very small paying job that helps a little, but the family is in abject poverty. She has three brothers and five sisters.
Her favorite activity - when not trying to answer all the questions in class - is skipping rope!
She thinks she would like to be a nurse.
We think she can do anything she wants.

PERON NIWARINDA

Sometimes a sponsor discontinues sponsorship.
It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
Peron is one of these children.
She is ten years old and in P2.
She is not the best student, but neither is she the worst.
It just breaks our hearts to tell her and her parents that she must go home.
We've asked for a little grace period to try to find her a new sponsor.
Maybe that's you?

APTON NASASIRA
Sub-title here
We have had to update this page. A bad situation has just gotten worse. Apton's father just deserted the family.
Apton is disoriented and in despair.
He was already very worried about school fees.
Now he says his bleak life has become "bleaker than bleak."
We are trying to pay his school fees out of bits and pieces, but to keep going, Apton needs a sponsor - not just for the money, but to know that he will be safe and secure in school.
To know someone cares... that someone is paying attention... that someone is there to stand by him.
He is 13 years old and in P5. He has 2 brothers and 2 sisters. And now, only a mother.
He is very shy and very smart.

PETER MAGOBA
Sub-title here
Bwindi Watoto School was founded to help children
like Peter.
Both his parents are dead.
One of his grandparents takes care of him.
His is almost 11 years old.
He is one of the top students in P3.
When we asked about his dreams, he says he hopes
to be a doctor.
He has no brothers, no sisters and when his
grandparents pass, will be alone,
A sponsor - especially one who would stand by him
all the way through his secondary education- would
make the difference in this child's life forever.

GERALD AYEBARE

Gerald is 12 years old.
Right now he is in Primary 6 and proud
to be ranked 4th out of a class of 45.
His father has died. His mother is still alive.
He would like to become a teacher.
Perhaps he would come back to Bwindi Watoto to teach other children like him.
...and he loves playing soccer!
