Who We Are
Jim and Jan Tanis Jim and Jan Tanis
went to Uganda to visit mountain gorillas and found much more. They met a young man named Brian Turindwamukama who needed help to pay his tuition. They helped sponsor Brian's education. He made them aware of the needs of the children in his community. Jim and Jan founded the Bwindi Community Program to give hope to the vulnerable children and to let them know that someone cares about their education.

Please contact them by email or directly at 928-204-1135 in Sedona, Arizona. They are happy to address your questions or concerns.

Brian Turindwamukama:
As a sponsored student, Brian has learned the generous nature of caring people. He has a four year scholarship to the Scattergood Friends School near Iowa City from 2009 to 2014 where he has had an opportunity to participate in several local charities. A requirement of his student visa is an annual reapplication interview in Uganda. It affords a short visit to his village and the childdren who are in school because of the Bwindi Community Program. His goal is to go back and help his country become a better place to live.
